My First Concert in 8 Years

Last weekend, my husband and I went to Universal City Walk for a concert. We called the babysitter and headed for Hollywood. We hadn't had a date night since December so it was nice to get out. We had dinner at Bubba Gump's (Yummy but supremely fatty foods). I had a Mango Lada (a pina colada with mango) and Hubby had a couple pilsners of beer. We also decided to do a shot and in trying to figure out what kind of shot we wanted to do, we delved into our memory of shots:
  • Kamikaze
  • Buttery Nipple
  • Purple Hooter
  • Tequila
  • Vodka

As I've gotten older, my desire to do "quality shots" has increased. Kamikaze? Nah-- I don't like the mixture of alcohol involved in it (these were actually really popular on our wedding day). Butter Nipple? I've never been a fan of Coffee. Purple Hooter? I think the maximum age limit for a purple hooter is like 20. Tequila? I hate doing tequila shots. They've always been so harsh on me--difficult to go down, burning throat, lots of gagging, lime ruins the enamel on your teeth... Vodka-- my only sensible choice. Chilled good vodka goes down safe and smooth...Belvedere here I come.

Hubby chooses Tequila.

What? I wanted to us to do the same shots. The waitress told me that it wouldn't be so bad if we do shots of Patron. OK--I decided to do it but good tequila still SMELLS like regular tequila, so I got a little queasy when our shots came. But it went down good...like butter (or in my case cherry pie). Strangely I wasn't buzzed. When we got to the amphitheatre, I got a margarita. Still no buzz. Hubby on the other hand started talking a mile a minute-- I knew he was well on his way so I quit drinking. Hubby was so buzzed that he told the chick next to him that he was pregnant because she was hiccuping. Oddly, it made her stop hiccuping. I think that trick works best on people that don't have kids.

Snow Patrol was awesome (maybe I have a thing for Irish bands). I also like one of the bands that opened for them -- OK Go. I think they won a Grammy for one of their videos. I was going to post some pictures but I seem to have misplaced my camera after we went to the Santa Anita Races. So I'll post them later.

I LOVE Snow Patrol!! OK GO is good, too. Tickets sold out so fast here it was incredible.

I'm super-excited to go see The Killers with The Man in May. I'll be putting my age to the test when I take my little sister to see Fall Out Boy ... THE NEXT NIGHT.

btw, I love your blog design!!
